Hey there! I’m Alexis the blogger behind Persia Lou, a craft, crochet, and home decor blog with a modern aesthetic. I’m so excited to be joining in the Get Out and Play Series here at Make and Takes!
My kids love to make things with me, and our craft projects that result in things we can play with! These little poppers were super simple to make and a lot of fun to play with, which is a total win in my book.
We tried launching a few different things out of these cute poppers – confetti or pom poms are great indoors or you can take them outdoors and turn them into mini water launchers. All you need to make these fun poppers are paper party cups (I found plastic cups weren’t strong enough), balloons, and scissors.
We started off by painting our cups to make them a little more special, but that is completely optional. My little girl painted a kitten on her cup, and I did some swirls and geometric shapes.
Once the cups are painted, cut out the bottom of the cups. I found this was easiest to do using small, sharp scissors.
Next, tie the balloon into a knot, clip off the top of the balloon, and slide it onto the cup. You could add tape to secure the balloon if you like, but we didn’t really need it.
That’s it! Load up with confetti, pom poms, or a little bit of water and have some fun.
These were a lot of fun to take outside. They work best with just a small amount of water. If they are too full, the water won’t shoot out as far. Even just a few drops of water will shoot out and give you a cool mist.
My kids had a lot of fun playing with these and spraying each other. They will eventually get a little soggy, but we got a good hour’s worth of play out of them.
