Holly Clothespin Gift Toppers

I’m adding a homemade touch to our gift wrapping this year with these sweet holly clothespin gift toppers. With some simple supplies and just a few minutes’ work, you can make a pile of these festive clothespins, perfect for attaching to the ribbons on top of your gifts.

Supplies for Holly Clothespins:

  • clothespins
  • green felt
  • red pom poms, buttons, and/or beads
  • hot glue gun and glue sticks

Once you gather your supplies, these take no time at all to make! Older kids and teens can make these on their own, or they make a fun parent/child craft project, too.

Start with a rectangle of green felt, approximately the length you want your entire holly leaf (both sides) to be. Fold it in half and cut a leaf shape through both layers, leaving the two leaves connected at the fold. We made a mix of small and large leaves for variety.

With a small dab of hot glue, attach a leaf to each clothespin.

Be sure to use a low-temp glue gun, and use toothpicks or popsicle sticks to press things into the hot glue.

Then, glue on a red pom pom, button, or bead for the berry. If you have tiny red pom poms, you can do a grouping of three berries, too. My favorite is the sparkly pom pom!

Holly clothespins for gift toppers

I can think of so many uses for these cute holly clothespins. In addition to making adorable gift toppers, they could be used to attach a gift tag or close a bag filled with Christmas treats. Add a magnet to the back for a refrigerator photo holder, or make a bunch to display holiday cards on a ribbon. You could even write names on the clothespins and use them as place cards.

Hope you are finding time to do some family crafting this holiday season!
