We are more than ready for fall fun with the kids. If you are looking for a few ideas to add to your fall bucket list check out our fall tree silhouette art project, take lots of fun photos with our scarecrow photo booth board, and study the parts of a pumpkin. Today we are showing you how to make a DIY tic tac toe board with pumpkins.
This pumpkin tic tac toe board is going to be an addition to my preschool classroom this fall. It also fits perfectly with our tree unit theme because it’s made using a wood slice and twigs.
DIY tic tac toe board
We were inspired by this woodland animals tic tac toe game for our fun fall activity. Kids of all ages are going to love it. Whether you put it in your classroom or on your coffee table at home it’s a great addition to your fall decor and fall fun.
Supplies
- Wood slice
- Twigs
- Faux mini pumpkins
- Clear Gorilla Glue
- Saw (optional depending on the size of your wood slice)
Note: I find it is cheaper to buy a longer slice of wood, rather than the perfectly rounded ones that you get at craft stores; I buy these often on Facebook Marketplace or my local Peddlers Mall. The one I purchased below was $2 for a wood slice about 4ft long that I’ll be able to use for other projects too.
Instructions
The first thing you need to do is break up your twigs and lay them out on the wood slice.
Once you have it exactly the way you want it, mark where the wood needs to be cut with the saw.
I showed a hot glue gun in the above photos, however, at the last moment I decided to switch to clear Gorilla Glue. The reason for this is the little fingers in my classroom love to pull things apart and hot glue is too easy for them to do this. I felt the Gorilla Glue would hold a lot stronger and the game would last a lot longer.
All you need now is your mini faux pumpkins. Make sure you have five per player.
