Be sure to grab our recipe for Christmas chocolate crackles below too. They are shaped like wreaths but we also have a traditional version too.
Chocolate crackles are a traditional party treat in Australia. Around the holidays, I especially miss my home country and want to eat all of the traditional foods we make. This year I decided to make not only traditional chocolate crackles but also turn some into wreaths that are perfect for your holiday parties.
Christmas chocolate crackle wreaths
Kids are going to love helping to make these because licking the spoon/s at the end is the best part. Or at least it was when I was a little girl.
Ingredients to make Christmas chocolate crackles
- Chocolate Rice Krispies
- Powdered sugar
- Sweetened coconut
- Crisco
- 100% cocoa powder
- Christmas nonpareils
Instructions
These Christmas chocolate crackles are so easy to make because once you measure out all of your ingredients you just combine it in a bowl.
To make the chocolate crackle wreaths you will need to brush Crisco around a donut pan.
Press the chocolate crackle mixture into the donut pan spaces. If you just put it in without pressing it down a little they will fall apart when you try to take them out again.
Sprinkle holiday nonpareils over the top before you put your pan into the freezer to set. Just putting them into the refrigerator will not set them enough to remove them from the pan, so I recommend the freezer.
Serve immediately, or refrigerate once you have removed them from the pan until you are ready to serve.
As I mentioned above, traditional chocolate crackles are made but putting the chocolate crackle mixture into cupcake liners and refrigerating them. If you don’t have a donut pan, then these are quick and easy treats that will be loved by everyone.
