We’re already looking forward to the next fall holiday and Thanksgiving is just around the corner. To help us celebrate, I’ve partnered with the upcoming movie FREE BIRDS, to bring a clever new way to create a hand turkey to craft at the Thanksgiving kids table. (In fact, I think these birds are hoping the only turkey you’ll have at your dining table are these colorful decorations!) Have you seen the trailer yet? We can’t wait to see it, it looks darling!
The creators of FREE BIRDS are also sharing a fun how-to video on how to draw a hand turkey. But these aren’t the same-old hand turkey drawings you’ve seen for years. I was new to this technique of drawing a hand turkey and it kinda blew my mind! I LOVE how they look, something different for the kids. Watch the lovely Amy Poehler, who’s the voice of Jenny in the movie, share her hand turkey creations, as well as a tutorial on this fun and clever way!

Drawing Free Birds Hand Turkeys
Instructions:
1. Gather your supplies: paper, pencil and crayons. You can use regular paper or find a paper plate. I love using paper plates, they are a great crafting medium. They make for a fun finished look.
2. Follow along with the directions on the darling how-to hand turkey video. Use your thumb and pinky to trace your turkey onto your paper plate.
3. Add everything a turkey needs – legs, beak, scenery, etc.
Maybe even see how your sister is making her turkey for a few ideas!
4. Now color it all in.
Add a border around your paper plate to make it complete.
It’s ready to display on the Thanksgiving table!
