One Pot Sausage Pasta Recipe
I am a big fan of one pan recipes, easy and quick homemade dishes, especially when it’s dinner time. Everything tastes better homemade! Plus for this one pan pasta recipe all you need is a large skillet, pasta, a couple of sausages, a can of diced tomatoes and dried Italian spice mix herbs and parmesan cheese.
You can make this recipe in any type of large skillet and you don’t have to worry about using an oven proof one because all the cooking is done on the stovetop.
This One Pot Pasta with Sausage recipe calls for short types of pasta: penne, farfalle, ziti or any other short pasta you prefer.
The best part of this dish, apart from its hearty, rich flavor is that the pasta is cooked directly in the sauce together with all the ingredients. One of the best one pan pasta dishes I’ve ever made!
One Pot Sausage Pasta Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 pound sausage (I have used Italian sausages), casing removed
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 teaspoons minced garlic
- 1 can fire roasted diced tomatoes
- 16 oz. uncooked short pasta: penne, farfalle or ziti
- 2 tablespoons dried Italian mix spice herbs
- parmesan cheese, for serving
Method:
- In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add the olive oil then the chopped onions and garlic and cook for a couple of minutes. Add the sausage meat and cook it, breaking it apart into small pieces for 2-3 minutes.
- Add diced tomatoes to the skillet, stirring to combine, add uncooked pasta too and give it a good stir. Add dried herbs to the mixture and 3 cups of water. Bring the mixture to a boil, reduce it to a simmer then cover the skillet and allow cooking until the pasta is al dente, for around 10 minutes, or follow what is written on the pasta pack.
- Serve the pasta with some Parmesan cheese shredded on top.
