Spring Bling for Straws

I’ve asked Chrissie from Flip Flops & Applesauce (one of my favorite creative blogs) to share a kids craft with us. Even though we are still in February, I love that this post is getting us ready for Spring. But these cute straw buddies would be darling anytime of the year.

Chrissie:

As a parent, it’s a joy to make ordinary things a little more special.  Adding a little bling to a straw does just that.  These straw decorations are perfect for everyday or for special events.

Supplies for Straw Decorations:

  • paper
  • double stick tape
  • scissors
  • straw
  • ladybug (wooden or sticker)

Directions:
1.  Put two sheets of paper together, back-to-back, and cut out desired shape (heart, flower, circle, square…)
2.  Use double stick tape to attach the two shapes together on either side of the straw.
3.  Attach the ladybug with double stick tape.
4.  Invite your friends over to sip lemonade or make your child’s sippy cup look extra happy.

Thanks, Chrissie. Maybe if I make these today, the snow outside my door will melt! Can you tell I’m itching for Spring? Anyone else?

  2. These are so cute!! My son has cerebral palsy and some oral motor problems and can only drink through a straw so I know he will love some jazzed up straws. My mind is running with all the different possibilities! Thanks so much for sharing!

  3. I love to surprise my girls with a smile on their pancake or a little face on the outside of their banana. This would be a nice surprise for them if I came out with this on their straws and then they can make their own. Thanks for sharing. I’ll have to check out her blog more.
Also, great idea for b-day parties, too.
