We love upcycled crafts at Make and Takes. With Earth Day coming up, now is the time to start thinking about items that you can reuse around the home instead of throwing them out. We previously showed you how to turn a jar into a vase, below we are repurposing plastic odor-eliminator containers into a vase too. This is the perfect spring craft for a flower vase!
How to repurpose a plastic container into a vase
Repurposing plastic containers for fresh flowers is a great project for tweens and teens. Have them pick flowers from the garden or take them to a local farmers market to pick out a bouquet to put into their vase. They’ll love this pretty spring addition to their bedrooms.
Supplies
- Odor eliminator container
- Scrapbook paper
- Mod Podge
- Twine
- Brush
- Scissors
Instructions
Remove the label from the odor eliminator container and clean the container thoroughly with soap and water.
Cut a strip of scrapbook paper and glue it around the plastic container using Mod Podge. Let it dry and then add two more coats of Mod Podge over the top, allowing each coat to dry before adding the next. This will help protect it from water splashing over the paper while adding water to the container.
Cut a long piece of twine and wrap it around the vase a few times and tie it in a knot at the front to secure it.
Use the holes in the top of the plastic container to help you fill the vase with pretty flowers. The holes will help the flowers stand up making it easier to put together a pretty arrangement.
